Ashido le cuenta a Rukia que él es un shinigami que llegó al Hueco Mundo hace cientos de años. Sus amigos que lo acompañaban murieron por la gran cantidad de hollows que había en el bosque. Mientras tanto, los hollow de clase adjucha y grande han empezado a atacarlos. En medio de una batalla, un hollow ataca por sorpresa,a Rukia por su espalda, siendo necesario que Ashido proteja a Rukia con su propio cuerpo.
